Coffee Date Conversation

A coffee date is a date, but with less preparing and not so much emotions and stress added up. A coffee date is a pre-date. If you have just met someone and you want to get to know a little better before actually having a real date , you fix a coffee date. There can be no better way than a carefully planned coffee date. Online daters have made the coffee date popular, but many people have opted for coffee dates before meeting a blind date as well. Setups from friends, for example, can be a great way to meet new people, but if the two of you don’t click, it could be a long evening. Coffee dates are called such because many daters choose to meet at coffee shops. But coffee dates conversations can be held in any public place, where there are lots of people coming and going, in which you can meet someone new and feel comfortable leaving after an hour.

This coffee date should take place in the afternoon, an hour or so after lunch, or early evening an hour or so before dinner time. The essentials being that the coffee date takes place in daylight hours and is set for 20 to 30 minutes, no longer. The problem about how to dress is easily solved because you should dress casual, a nice shirt/sweater, maybe clean jeans or khaki pants. No 2 piece suits for the man, no dresses or skirts for the ladies , you want to be comfortable, remember, it’s just coffee. At a coffee date conversation, try to keep the questions open ended and the other person talking. People do like to talk about themselves more that hearing about others and you’ll easily come off a winner by letting the other person talk. A very important tip you have to keep in mind at a coffee date, is not to be late, you can even be a few minutes earlier.

Questions to get to know someone on a coffee date conversation, such as these, are a great starting point: Did both of your parents work?( it can be a good opportunity for the other to talk about themselves, and a chance for you to get to know your date) ; Where did you spend your summer?( can start up a very interesting subject about trips and locations); do you have pets? Or have you ever had any pets?; do you watch any tv shows regularly? .

When the time to end the coffee date nears, it is safe to either state that you really don’t have much in common, but thanks for having coffee with me, or to plan tour next meeting/ date in a couple of days. You don`t have to stay over those 20- 30 minutes, because it`s only a short meeting to catch up or to exchange some ideas. Our tip : don`t postpone your schedule! Your coffee date should have this type of definite end to it, so there are no hard feelings and uncomfortable confrontations later.
