Conversation Starters For Dates
Published by admin, on Oct 13 2008, in the categories: Uncategorized
It`s a known fact that all first dates can be awkward. The main reason is the lack of communication, that doesn`t come easy between two strangers. Conversation starters are those questions or statements that can generate a complex answer and not a simple “yes” or “no”. These conversation starters can save a date from being a total disaster. First of all before the big date you should first try to find out something about the other person , things like what heshe likes to eat,to do, hobbies, if heshe likes sports or not. This will help a lot throughout the date because you could find some common things. If you don`t find out anything, then don`t panic because we have a few examples of conversation starters that will certainly improve your image. For example when you first meet , a compliment can be helpful : you can say “ you look fantastic “ or you can make a compliment regarding the clothes or the car.
Another tip is not to talk about you too much, because it can become boring for the other person. Give 2 or 3 details about you and then try to relate to your partner. Keep in mind that a conversation involves 2 people and so you have to include your date also. Try to be funny but not in an obvious and disturbing way. Don`t say bad jokes or nasty ones , try to be funny about the situation and most of all try to be honest. There are many conversation starters that you can choose from, but the most used and efficient ones are those that come casual and relaxed like : “so.. "What interesting things did you do this week-end”? or a statement like „ I have never been to this restaurant , i heard they have also chinese food”. This way you can start a conversation about food, you can find out what he/she likes and from here many other topics like places you have visited , locations, trips you have made and things you both have in common. Another tip, is not to focus your discussion about one topic too long and if your talk gravitates to another subject, let it.
Eventually you will have to leave, and the conversation will have to end. A tip for ending a perfect conversation is to let the topic end by itself and not generate subjects that will keep the two of you together another 2 hours. When leaving, you should thank your date for their time and let them know you’ve got something else to do, but you’d like to continue the conversation another time when it’s convenient for the both of you. This is a good example : “Perhaps we could continue this conversation later on in the week? What do you think?”
If you keep in mind a few of the tips about breaking the ice with these conversation starters , you will be surprised to see, that the impression you left is a very good one. If the conversation went smoothly then the next date it`s a sure thing!
